European patent applications per capita

The indicator monitors the innovative capacity of countries. It measures the ratio of European patent applications filed with the EPO per million inhabitants during the last year and ranks them. The indicator is calculated at a global level for all countries with a population of at least 1 million inhabitants and at a European level for all EPC member states. The data is updated on an annual basis.
